Cape Town – SANParks says that most of the fire between Newlands and Devil’s Peak in Cape Town has been contained, with fire management teams actively monitoring the situation overnight.
Fire management teams have been working to contain the blaze since early Sunday.
Crews will stay on-site overnight to keep watch over the fire line.
“Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) fire management team continues to actively manage the fire between Newlands and Devil’s Peak,” it said.
Newlands Forest and certain trails to Devil’s Peak have been closed to the public due to the fire, which has caused damage to the Contour Path boardwalk and resulted in rockfalls.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
