Cape Town – Veteran South African actor Don Mlangeni Nawa has passed away at the age of 65, his family confirmed in a statement released on Wednesday.
They described him as a beloved father and a respected actor, requesting privacy as they mourn.
“It is with deep heartbreak that we share the passing of our beloved father, Don Mlangeni Nawa.
“He was the heart of our family – a loving father, brother and friend. To the world, he was a gifted and respected actor whose presence lit up every stage and screen he graced,” the family said.

The cause of death has not been disclosed, and funeral arrangements will be announced later.
Tributes have poured in on social media from fans and fellow celebrities.
ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula praised Nawa’s ability to reflect South African stories through his work.

Nawa began his television career in the 1980s and gained fame with roles such as Bra Zeb Matabane in Isidingo (1998–2014) and Laqhasha in ’Sgudi ’Snaysi. His recent appearances included roles in Shaka iLembe, The River, and Losing Lerato.
