Cape Town – A family in KwaZulu-Natal is reportedly hoping for the safe reunion with their 21-year-old daughter, who is currently under threat of being sold to human traffickers by her kidnappers unless a ransom of R100 000 is paid by the parents.
Zinhle Ashley Khuzwayo went missing after responding to a job advert.
Her family, residing in Buffelsdraai, sought assistance from a local private security company but has been unable to locate her.
Spokesperson for Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa), Prem Balram, said the family received a WhatsApp message from Khuzwayo stating she was at an unknown location, but when asked for her pin drop, she claimed to lack sufficient data.
Subsequently, the family sent her airtime, only to receive a message indicating that she was in the process of being sold to human traffickers for R100 000.
“Her family asked her to forward a pin drop but she advised them that she did not have enough data. On Friday, they forwarded her airtime but received a message saying that Khuzwayo no longer had the phone and that she’s in the process of being sold for R100 000.
“There were no further messages sent,” Balram said.
The police have opened a missing person docket, and anyone with information is urged to contact with Rusa on 086 123 4333.
