Cape Town – A 10-year-old boy from Gqeberha succumbed to his injuries after an attack by two family pit bulls.
The tragic incident happened on Monday at the boy’s Gelvandale home, police said in a statement.
Eastern Cape police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu said it was unclear why the dogs turned on the boy.
“It is alleged that at about 13:15, police were alerted to the incident and on arrival shot both dogs inside the house. It is further alleged that Storm Nuku and two other children were in the house with the dogs… He succumbed to his injuries at the scene,” said Naidu.

Police were forced to shoot and kill both dogs, she said.
Naidu said an inquest docket will be opened for further investigation.
