Cape Town – Juandré Kidson, of North West province, was reportedly shot dead on the N4 in Brits on May 7 in front of his wife and one-year-old child.
According to News24, the 29-year-old was returning home from Rustenburg with his wife, Johanette, and their one-year-old daughter when a car tyre was punctured by rocks on the road.
Kidson stopped on the side of the road to change the tyre. While he was busy, three armed men approached.
“He was shot and killed in front of his wife and baby while begging for mercy for his family. His wife, Johanette, was shot in the shoulder as she fought the [men] off who tried to grab their baby from her arms,” the report quoted Kidson’s brother Marco as saying.

Kidson was a well-known businessman in the area. He owned his own water company that supplied water to various areas throughout the province.
IOL reported that the community helped raise the money to find Kidson’s killer.
An initial reward of R50 000 was offered for information that could lead to the successful arrest and conviction of the three murderers. The reward has since been increased to R90 000.
Johanette has been recovering. The car was found with no front tyres and keys.
Police have appealed to the public to come forward with any information that could assist in arresting the murders.
