Cape Town – A Zimbabwean man, Crisswell Paratema, 33, was reportedly buried without the upper part of his body after he was mauled to death by a hippopotamus while casting fishing nets along Nyaodza river in Kariba.
According to New Zimbabwe, his family was able to bury his lower torso only.
Crisswell was buried in Chief Nyamhunga’s area of Magunje last weekend, the report said.
The deceased was in the company of his brother Collins Paratema and Andrew Munjoma when the incident occurred.
The trio had “ventured into the water about 500 metres from the river banks and started casting nets. The water was reaching waist level”, the report quoted a source as saying.
