Cape Town – One of the suspects who were arrested last week in connection with the robbery and attack of world-renowned Ndebele artist Esther Mahlangu, has been reported to be her neighbour.
Time Live said on Monday that Simon Kganshi Skosana, 36, was known to the family and did odd jobs at Mahlangu’s home.
“We didn’t expect this could be done by someone we know so well. He’s an electrician and used to do odd jobs at Gogo’s house. So it means when he was there to work he also observed how things are there at home,” the report quoted Mahlangu’s grandson Xolani as saying.

Mahlangu, 87, was left unconscious after she was physically assaulted before being robbed of her firearm and an undisclosed amount of cash late last month.
“The man allegedly grabbed her and punched her in the face before tying both her hands with a cable and tried to strangle her until she reportedly became unconscious,” provincial police commissioner Lieutenant-General Semakaleng Manamela said in a statement.
According to EWN, Skosana, 37, was arrested together with another suspect Jan Masilela, 32 after police in that province received a tip-off.
Skosana was remanded in custody, while Masilela was given bail of R3 000 by the Mdutjana Magistrate’s Court in Mpumalanga on Friday.
