Cape Town – Investigations are reportedly under way following the death of an employee at the Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve in the Breede River Valley in the Western Cape.
Reports said that the male staff member was killed by an elephant at the game reserve on Monday.
According to Times LIVE, the reserve said Kabelo Botha Mashao was fatally injured by an elephant that had been introduced at Inverdoorn about 15 years ago.
“We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the Mashao family, his friends, and coworkers during this difficult time. We are providing support to our staff and all those affected by this terrible loss,” the report quoted the reserve as saying.
The publication said the reserve did not provide details of the circumstances but an investigation was under way.

Meanwhile, Aquila Collection, which owns and manages Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve, requested that the privacy of the family and staff be respected during this difficult, reported The Bulrushes.
The report said Aquila Collect could not comment on the incident yet.
“We cannot provide any further comments at this stage until the investigation is complete,” the report quoted.
