Cape Town – Former Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane, who recently became an EFF Member of Parliament, has been assigned to the justice and constitutional development portfolio committee.
This is the same committee she reported to for almost seven years before facing impeachment.
In her new role, Mkhwebane will work alongside MPs from various parties, including those who previously questioned her performance as Public Protector.
The EFF has chosen to go on the aggressive.
It has been confirmed that Adv Busisiwe Mkhwebane will be in the Justice and Correctional Services portfolio committee. She will be part of oversight of the office of the Public Protector.

This includes individuals like Democratic Alliance MP Glynnis Breytenbach, against whom Mkhwebane has a pending defamation case.
Notably, Mkhwebane will also serve on the committee with members of the Section 194 inquiry that led to her impeachment.
In this position, she will oversee her former workplace, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), and the Special Investigating Unit (SIU).
Mkhwebane was sworn in as an EFF MP 11 days ago.
