Cape Town – A Gauteng education official, Siza Mbhalati, was reportedly fatally shot around eight times in his car in front of his home in Protea Glen, Soweto.
According to Times Live, Mbhalati, aged 52, was trailed from work and attacked upon reaching his driveway.
He was part of the labour relations unit in the Johannesburg South district and was responsible for managing labor-related conflicts at schools, the report said.
Gauteng education MEC Matome Chiloane expressed sorrow over his death and urged for the swift capture of the perpetrators.
“We are saddened by the unfortunate death of one of our dedicated public servants who served the department with honour and dignity,” the report quoted Chiloane as saying.
