Nandipha Magudumana, the lover and alleged accomplice of Facebook rapist Thabo Bester, has reportedly claimed she was sexually abused by some of South Africa’s most powerful men.
Sunday World reports that the disgraced doctor penned the letter from the Bizzah Makhete Correctional Centre in Kroonstad, where she is being held before she is tried for her alleged role in Bester’s dramatic escape from Mangaung Prison in May last year.
She and Bester were arrested in Tanzania in April after an extensive manhunt for the two. She, Bester and 10 co-accused are due back in court on 11 October, according to EWN. Magudumana is claiming her arrest was illegal.
In her letter, sent through her lawyers, Magudumana says she wants to end Women’s Month highlighting “the struggles women face in our country”.
The Citizen reports that she said she would be soon sharing more about “the many painful times I have suffered physical, emotional, financial and sexual abuse at the hands of powerful men, including some of the most powerful and prominent families in South Africa currently occupying the highest offices in government and business”.
In addition she wanted to share details about“my painful experience at the correctional facility, including the plight of women inmates and the violation of their human rights”.
She said she had granted the exclusive rights to her story to a South African, black woman-owned production company, and that the paperwork on the deal was being finalised.
