‘Devastating scene’ – Man shot dead inside KZN Mugg & Bean restaurant

Cape Town – A man, 51, was reportedly shot dead inside a restaurant at the Christians Village Shopping Centre, KwaZulu-Natal on Friday morning.

According to IOL, the suspect, 49, entered the Mugg & Bean restaurant and sat at the same table as the deceased.

An argument ensued between the two.

“During an argument the suspect drew a firearm and fired shots at the victim. He sustained gunshot wounds to the head and was declared dead at the scene,” the report quoted police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala as saying.

The suspect fled the scene but later turned himself in at the Hillcrest police station.

Christian Village Shopping Centre confirmed the incident on Facebook and expressed condolences to the deceased’s family.

“Christians Village Shopping Centre can confirm that a man was shot by a customer sitting at his table at Mugg n Bean this morning. The suspect has been taken in by SAPS Hillcrest. Our condolences go out to the family and to the shoppers who witnessed this devastating scene. Christians Village is open for trade and the scene has been isolated,” reads the statement.

The motive of the shooting remained unknown.
