Cape Town – Severe flooding in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal on Friday reportedly led to the death of one person and left many others injured and homeless.
The Madondo family lost a member when their house collapsed in P Section, Ward 85.

The South African Weather Service had issued out an alert that there would be inclement weather in the province and surrounding areas.

MEC for Transport and Human Settlements, Siboniso Amstrong Duma, will visit the affected areas to assess damage and offer support.
“Following heavy rains that wreaked havoc in Durban this morning, I have decided to wrap up my engagement in the legislature and be with distressed communities,” IOL quoted him as saying.

Several sections of Umlazi, including AA (Chicago), J Section, and Ward 78, were hit hard, with homes destroyed and roads severely damaged.
Duma highlighted the need for more resources to address the recurring flood-related damage.
