Cape Town – The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has confirmed its readiness to conduct the 2024 National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams, set to run from October 21 to November 27.
The department updated the Portfolio Committee on its preparedness for the 2024 Grade 12 final exams.
Minister Siviwe Gwarube, Deputy Minister Dr. Reginah Mhaule, and Director-General Mathanzima Mweli led the briefing in Parliament.
Over 732,000 full-time and 136,000 part-time candidates are registered, with results expected on January 16, 2025.
Despite disruptions from Covid-19 during their schooling years, the Class of 2024 has benefited from recovery programs and improved resources.
The DBE has appointed 55,053 markers at 188 centers and prepared 162 approved question papers for the exams.
“There are 55 053 markers appointed, who will be stationed at 188 marking centres. The results will be released to candidates on 16 January 2025. The Minister will announce the results on 15 January 2024,” the department said.
