Cape Town – The South African Women Lawyers Association (Sawla) has accused Democratic Alliance (DA) Advocate Glynnis Breytenbach of misogyny for alleging that Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka achieved her career success through an inappropriate relationship with her former boss.
Breytenbach’s comments came after Gcaleka was voted to become the Public Protector.
“The very cosy relationship and some say intimate relationship, with her boss, the rather odious Menzi Simelane, led to speedy promotions and her very vocal and active support of his role in the capture of the NPA,” Breytenbach said in Parliament.
Very disgusting behaviour by Glynnis Breytenbach
She tarnished Kholeka’s reputation without presenting evidence or saying it straight.
Where are black and white feminists!

Sawla expressed disappointment in Breytenbach’s actions, saying that she had the opportunity to raise her concerns during the Public Protector interviews but chose to make these allegations in a platform where Gcaleka couldn’t respond, EWN reported. said.
The organisation said that such comments perpetuate harmful stereotypes that undermine the capabilities of black women in leadership roles and called on the DA to take action against Breytenbach.
