Cape Town – A Johannesburg entrepreneur won a record-breaking R3.5 million jackpot on Sportstake 8 from last Monday’s draw, the highest in the game’s history.
He secured the Division 1 prize of R3.49 million and additional payouts from four other prize divisions.
The winner, a loyal National Lottery player, plans to use the winnings for a trip to Abu Dhabi’s Formula 1 Grand Prix, invest in his son’s education, and save the rest.
“This would not have been possible without my jackpot win. I also plan to invest in my son’s education and save the rest,” he said.
The Kaizer Chiefs, Real Madrid, and Manchester City fan placed a R288 wager online and discovered his win through a text notification.
Ithuba CEO Charmaine Mabuza celebrated the milestone, while also announcing a separate R19 million lotto jackpot won by a player in Rustenburg. Players are urged to check tickets for unclaimed prizes.
