Cape Town – President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Judge Owen Lloyd Rogers as a Judge of the Constitutional Court of South Africa.
The Presidency made the announcement on Wednesday.
“President Cyril Ramaphosa has, in terms of section 174(4) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, appointed Judge Owen Lloyd Rogers as a Judge of the Constitutional Court of South Africa,” said the Presidency in a statement.
The Presidency said Rogers was a “highly experienced Judge who has been serving as a Judge of the Western Cape Division of the High Court”.

He has 9 years of experience on the bench and many years in legal private practice.
Rogers’ appointment followed the president’s consultation with the chief justice and leaders of political parties in the National Assembly.
The Judicial Services Commission conducted the interviews and recommended four names to the president.
“President Ramaphosa wishes Judge Rogers well in his new role, which takes effect from 01 August 2022,” said the statement.
