Cape Town – Police are investigating following complaints about criminals reportedly posing as Tshwane metro police department (TMPD) officials targeting motorists in Centurion, Pretoria.
The criminals dressed in TMPD uniforms and driving vehicles with blue lights, target drivers in Centurion and at the R511 from Diepsloot leading to Hartbeespoort, a statement by Tshwane Metro Police Communication Unit said.
They allegedly stop drivers, rob and hijack them.
“Currently, the South African Police Service (SAPS) is investigating three of these similar cases, and the TMPD will cooperate and work jointly with the SAPS to get to the bottom of this crime. Community members are encouraged to be extra cautious and alert on the roads.
“Members of the public who might have information regarding these criminals are urged to report such to the nearest police station or to the TMPD on 012-358-7095/7096.
“All information received will be treated with confidentiality,” read the statement.
