Cape Town – A driver who fled the scene of a serious bakkie crash on the R103 in Balgowan, KwaZulu-Natal, was later found critically injured at his home after setting himself alight.
Emergency services were dispatched to the accident on Sunday, where they found a bakkie that had rolled multiple times.
The passenger sustained minor injuries, but the driver was missing.
Midlands EMS confirmed that the driver had fled before paramedics arrived.
“Upon arrival, it was found that a bakkie had rolled multiple times. The passenger of the vehicle sustained minor injuries, while the driver had fled the scene.
The circumstances surrounding the crash and the driver’s actions are under investigation.
