Cape Town – South Africa recorded 912 new Covid-19 infections and 3 Covid-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours, the National Department of Health said on Tuesday.
The increase in infections brings the accumulative number to 3 705 696.
The total number of fatalities now stands at 99 893 since the pandemic hit the county in March 2020.
“As of today, the cumulative number of #Covid-19 cases identified in SA is 3 705 696 with 912 new cases reported. Today 03 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 99 893 deaths. The cumulative number of recoveries now stands at 3 591 573 with a recovery rate of 96.9%,” said the health department in a statement.

According to the National Institute For Communicable Diseases (NICD), 19 376 tests were conducted, with a positivity rate of 4.7%.
The majority of the new Covid-19 cases came from Gauteng (300), followed by Western Cape (212) and KwaZulu-Natal (197).
At the bottom was the Northern Cape, with only 3 newly recorded cases in the past 24 hours.
