Cape Town – South Africa recorded 9 260 new Covid-19 cases, the National Department of Health said on Friday.
This brings the accumulative number of cases to 3 513 813.
At least 140 deaths have also been reported, bringing the total number of Covid-19 related deaths to 92 252 since the pandemic hit the country.
“As of today [Friday] the cumulative number of #COVID19 cases identified in SA is 3 513 813 with 9 260 new cases reported. Today 140 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 92 252 deaths. The cumulative number of recoveries now stand at 3 273 022 with a recovery rate of 93 1%,” said the health department in a statement.

According to the National Institute For Communicable Diseases (NICD), 45 843 tests were conducted with a positivity rate of 20.2%.
Western Cape accounted for the majority of cases with (26%), followed by Kwa-Zulu Natal (25%), Gauteng (20%), Eastern Cape (9%), Free State (5%), Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West and Northern Cape each accounted for 4% respectively.
