Cape Town – South Africa has recorded 889 new Covid-19 cases, the National Department of Health said on Sunday, under the latest review cycle.
This brings the total number of positive cases to 3 704 218.
A total of 2 Covid-19 related deaths were reported, bringing the total fatalities to 99 881 since the discovery of the virus in the country.
“As of today the cumulative number of #COVID19 cases identified in SA is 3 704 218 with 889 new cases reported. Today 02 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 99 881 deaths. The cumulative number of recoveries now stand at 3 589 451 with a recovery rate of 96.9%,” said the health department in a statement.

The majority of new cases were from Gauteng (349), followed by Western Cape (252), and Kwa-Zulu Natal (162).
“16 436 tests were conducted in the last 24hrs, with 889 new cases, which represents a 5.4% positivity rate. Today @HealthZA reports 2 deaths that occurred in the past 24–48 hrs. Total fatalities are 99 881 to date,” National Institute For Communicable Diseases (NICD) said.
