Cape Town – South Africa recorded 8 078 new Covid-19 infections and 139 deaths on Tuesday, the National Department of Health has said.
This increase brings the accumulative number of Covid-19 infections to 3 483 590 since the pandemic hit the country.
It also brings the total number of Covid-19 related deaths to 91 451.
“As of today the cumulative number of #COVID19 cases identified in SA is 3 483 590 with 8 078 new cases reported. Today 139 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 91 451 deaths. The cumulative number of recoveries now stand at 3 328 246 with a recovery rate of 93%,”

According to the National Institute For Communicable Diseases (NICD), 40 105 tests were conducted, with a positivity rate of 20.1%.
Of the new cases, the most were in KwaZulu-Natal (2 281), followed by the Western Cape (1 765) and Gauteng (1 549).
