Cape Town – South Africa recorded 7 216 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the total number of infections to 3 424 534, the National Department of Health said.
At least 25 people succumbed to the virus, resulting in the total number of deaths standing at 90 854.
“As of today the cumulative number of #COVID19 cases identified in SA is 3 424 534 with 7 216 new cases reported. Today 25 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 90 854 deaths. The cumulative number of recoveries now stand at 3 134 314 with a recovery rate of 91,5%,” the department said in a statement.

According to the National Institute For Communicable Diseases (NICD), 30 529 tests were conducted, with a positivity rate of 23.6%.
KwaZulu-Natal remained the epicentre as it accounted for 28% of the new cases, followed by Western Cape( 25%), and Gauteng ( 22%).
Northern Cape is at the bottom, with 2%.
