Cape Town – South Africa recorded 3 232 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, bringing the total number of infections to 3 475 512, the National Department of Health says.
At least 87 people succumbed to the virus, resulting in the total number of deaths standing at 91 312.
“As of today the cumulative number of #COVID19 cases identified in SA is 3 475 512 with 3 232 new cases reported. Today 87 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 91 312 deaths. The cumulative number of recoveries now stand at 3 224 152 with a recovery rate of 92.8%,” the department said in a statement.

According to the National Institute For Communicable Diseases (NICD), 17 339 tests were conducted, with a positivity rate of 18.6%.
Gauteng province accounted for the majority of cases, with 908 new infections, followed by KwaZulu-Natal (797) and Western Cape (732).
Northern Cape is at the bottom, with 74 cases.
