Cape Town – South Africa recorded 2 409 new Covid-19 infections and 77 Covid-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours ,the National Department of Health said on Monday.
This increase brings the accumulative number of infections to 3 528 463.
It also brings the total number of fatalities to 92 530 since the pandemic hit the county on March 2020.
“As of today [Monday] the cumulative number of #COVID19 cases identified in SA is 3 528 463 with 2 409 new cases reported. Today 77 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 92 530 deaths. The cumulative number of recoveries now stand at 3 291 578 with a recovery rate of 93.3%,” said the health department in a statement.

According to the National Institute For Communicable Diseases (NICD), 17 197 tests were conducted with a positivity rate of 14%.
The majority of new cases today are from Gauteng (34%), followed by Western Cape (23%) and Kwa-Zulu Natal (21%).
