Cape Town – South Africa recorded 2 334 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the total number of infections to 3 662 032, the National Department of Health said.
At least 64 people succumbed to the virus, resulting in the total number of deaths standing at 98 868.
“As of today, the cumulative number of #Covid-19 cases identified in SA is 3 662 032 with 2 334 new cases reported. Today 64 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 98 868 deaths. The cumulative number of recoveries now stands at 3 524 115 with a recovery rate of 96.3%,” the department said in a statement.

According to National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), a total number of 31 774 tests were conducted, with a positivity rate of 7.3%.
The majority of new cases were from Gauteng (39%), followed by Kwa-Zulu Natal and Western Cape, each accounting for 15% respectively.
Northern Cape is at the bottom, with 2%.
