Cape Town – South Africa recorded 18 035 new cases, the National Department of Health said on Sunday, adding that a total of 62 414 tests were conducted.
“In the past 24 hours, 18 035 positive #COVID19 cases have been reported. The total number of confirmed cases is 3 167 497 to date which includes 19 840 retrospective cases (due to late reporting by public labs) and 18 035 new cases,” said the department in a statement.
A total of 62 414 tests were conducted, with a positivity rate of 28.9%.
A further 21 Covid-19 related deaths were reported, bringing the total fatalities to 90 137, the department said.

Gauteng continued to account for the majority of new cases, with 16 716 cases, followed by KwaZulu-Natal (6 246) and Western Cape (4 655).
