Cape Town – South Africa recorded 11 106 new Covid-19 infections and 110 deaths, the National Department of Health has said on Wednesday.
This increase represents a 22.2% positivity rate.
To date, 3 494 696 Covid-19 cases and 91 561 Covid-19 related deaths have been confirmed since the pandemic hit the country in 2020.
“As of today [Wednesday] the cumulative number of #COVID19 cases identified in SA is 3 494 696 with 11 106 new cases reported. Today 110 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 91 561 deaths. The cumulative number of recoveries now stand at 3 249 738 with a recovery rate of 93%,” said the National Department of health in a statement.

According to the National Institute For Communicable Diseases (NICD), 40 105 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours.
Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal now each account for 26% of the country’s new caseloads, followed by Gauteng, with 19%.
