Cape Town – South Africa has recorded 1 868 new Covid-19 cases, the National Department of Health said on Thursday, under the latest review cycle.
This brings the total number of positive cases to 3 690 291.
A total 25 Covid-19 related deaths were reported, bringing the total fatalities to 99 681 since the discovery of the virus in the country.
“As of today the cumulative number of #Covid-19 cases identified in SA is 3 690 291 with 1 868 new cases reported. Today 25 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 99 681 deaths. The cumulative number of recoveries now stand at 3 571 758 with a recovery rate of 96.8%,” said the health department in a statement.

The majority of new cases were from Gauteng (635), followed by Western Cape (450), and Kwa-Zulu Natal (307).
“8 728 tests were conducted in the last 24hrs, with 1 868 new cases, representing a 6.5% positivity rate. Today @HealthZA reports 25 deaths; of which 5 occurred in the past 24–48 hours. Total fatalities are 99 681 to date,” National Institute For Communicable Diseases said.
