Cape Town – South Africa has recorded a total of 3 560 921 Covid-19 cases, with 1 691 new cases identified in the past 24 hours, the National Department of Health said on Monday.
A further 87 Covid-19 related deaths were reported, bringing total fatalities to 92 989 to date, the department said.
“As of today the cumulative number of #Covid-19 cases identified in SA is 3 560 921 with 1 691 new cases reported. Today 87 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 93 451 deaths. The cumulative number of recoveries now stand at 3 375 859 with a recovery rate of 94.8%,”said the health department in a statement.

According to the National Institute For Communicable Diseases (NICD), 18 171 tests were conducted, with a positivity rate of 14.3%.
The majority of new cases were from Gauteng (27%), followed by Western Cape (19%), and Kwa-Zulu Natal (17%).
At the bottom is the Northern Cape with only 2% of new recorded cases.
