Cape Town – South Africa has recorded 1 497 new Covid-19 cases, the National Department of Health said on Saturday, under the latest review cycle.
This brings the total number of positive cases to 3 712 263.
A total of 26 Covid-19 related deaths were reported, bringing the total fatalities to 99 965 since the discovery of the virus in the country.
“As of today, the cumulative number of #Covid-19 cases identified in SA is 3 712 263 with 1 497 new cases reported. Today 26 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 99 965 deaths. The cumulative number of recoveries now stands at 3 597 725 with a recovery rate of 96.9%,” said the health department in a statement.

The majority of new cases were from Gauteng (590), followed by Western Cape (410), and Kwa-Zulu Natal (294).
