Cape Town – South Africa’s total number of positive Covid-19 cases now stands at 3 684 319 after 1 147 new infections were identified in the past 24 hours, the National Department of Health said on Sunday.
0 Covid-19 related deaths were reported. Total fatalities stand at 99 543 to date, the department said.
“As of today, the cumulative number of #Covid-19 cases identified in SA is 3 684 319 with 1 147 new cases reported. Today 0 deaths have been reported bringing the total to 99 543 deaths. The cumulative number of recoveries now stands at 3 560 217 with a recovery rate of 96.6%,” the department said in a statement.

According to the National Institute For Communicable Diseases (NICD), 18 709 tests were conducted, with a positivity rate of 6.1%.
The majority of new cases were from Gauteng (418), followed by KwaZulu-Natal (259), and Western Cape (236).
At the bottom was the Northern Cape with only 13 newly recorded cases.
