Cape Town – A suspect has been apprehended by Lenasia police following the discovery of a Mercedes-Benz that was stolen at a car wash in Garsfontein, Pretoria.
The arrest took place on October 2 when the stolen vehicle was discovered parked in the suspect’s yard in Lenasia South, Johannesburg.
Gauteng police spokesperson, Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, said that the car is owned by a senior police official.
A Mercedes Benz CLA 45S AMG valued at about R1.3m stolen at a car wash in Garsfontein, Pretoria. It belongs to a senior police officer. The vehicle was found at a house in Lenasia South, JHB. A suspect has been arrested and a firearm seized.

“No firearm was found in his possession,” Nevhuhulwi said.
The suspect is expected to appear in court.
In response to the incident, a Community Policing Forum member advised motorists not to leave their cars unattended at car washes and recommended using reputable establishments for added safety.
