Cape Town – The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has launched an investigation after one of their patrol vehicles was stolen and later found abandoned in Chiawelo on Sunday.
According to News24, the suspects jumped in the car and drove away while the three officers who were in it were busy investigating a complaint about a tent that had been erected in the middle of a road.

A search for the vehicle was conducted.
After approximately three-hours, the car was found abandoned in Chiawelo, with the right front and rear wheels damaged.
A Sunday World report said that a case of theft and vandalism had since been opened at Moroka Police Station.
Circumstances around the vehicle being stolen were still unclear.
