Cape Town – Condolences are pouring in on social media following the murder of a young Cape Town vet, who was stabbed by intruders at his Athlone home early on Thursday.
It is believed that Dr Natheem Jacobs, 27, who had just started a new job at the Cape of Good Hope SPCA this week, was attacked with a knife by criminals who were trying to steal the wheels of his wife’s car during load shedding at his home in Lady May Street, Garlandale.
He was attacked as he went out to check.
“According to reports the deceased was stabbed with a knife and was transported to a nearby medical facility for medical assistance where he succumbed due to the extent of injuries he had sustained on arrival at the hospital,” IOL quoted Western Cape police as saying.

A murder docket has since been opened for investigation.
According to News24, the SPCA said it was devastated by the loss.
“As a committed welfare veterinarian whose heart for animals was beyond comprehension, his loss reverberates throughout the entire organisation,” the organisation said.
SPCA board member Dr Ayoub Banderker said he was “so proud of him as one of the new generation of Muslim vets”.
