Cape Town — Tony Forbes, the grieving father of Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes, said seeing the faces of the men accused of murdering his son, has brought him some closure.
The case against Lindokuhle Thabani Mkhwanazi, 30; Lindani Ndimande, 35; Siyanda Myeza, 21; Mziwethemba Gwabeni, 36; and Lindokuhle Ndimande, 29 are the five men accused of the murder of AKA and his friend, celebrity chef Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.
The case has now been postponed to next week for a bail application. The group made a brief appearance in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday morning and sre facing charges of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder, among others, EWN reported.
Tony Forbes welcomed the state’s intention to oppose bail.
“Over time, I built up these images in my head in terms of the bad guys, and part of my closure is really to start putting faces to these people.” Forbes said.
Following the court proceedings, legal analyst, Abigail Ngobene, said two additional charges were added to the case, and the charges are linked to the money laundering and how the suspects used the alleged R800 000 that was paid to them.
Ngobene also said today’s court appearance was very brief and not intended to be a bail application and the accused needed to go through a bail verification process.
The court ruling follows the ruling of the Ndimande brothers, who are currently in eSwatini. They are waiting to be extradited to South Africa as their court case has been postponed to 12 March as they await the court to peruse the extradition process further before proceeding with the matter.
The bail application of the five suspects linked to the murders of rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and his friend Tebello Motsoane, has been postponed to March 14. Today, 2 more charges were added. Legal analyst Abigail Ngobene explains.
