Cape Town — Following Human Rights Day in South Africa, the Cape Flats Safety Forum has welcomed the South African Police Services (SAPS) deploying ext4a bodies to fight against gang violence throughout Cape Town.
Earlier this week, SAPS announced it deployed additional members in gang-ridden areas. These are members comprised of the Anti-Gang Unit, Tactical Response Teams, Operation Lockdown II, Operation Restore and Public Order Police teams and will be expected to conduct operations to slow crime down in the area.
“The intervention follows incidents where murder and attempted murders cases registered indicate a spike in shooting incidents that saw a significant number of individuals shot in Mitchell’s Plain, Bishop Lavis, Philippi, Ravensmead and Elsie’s River.” SAPS spokesperson, Malcolm Pojie said.

According to EWN, the Cape Flats Safety Forum ape Flats Safety Forum has called on the government to adopt a new approach to fighting gang violence, and welcomed the extra boots on the ground.
“We are saying to the agencies they also need to have a multi-faceted approach to include community organisations and members of the community that have like-minded thinking to ensure that we have safer Cape Flats,” said Cape Flats Safety Forum chairperson Abie Isaacs.
