Cape Town — South Africans have made calls and urged the government and citizens to not lose momentum in the bid to free Palestine from the tragedies faced against Israel.
South Africa has been outspoken of the hostile treatment of innocent Palestinians at the hands of Israelis in Gaza and has urged the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to implement a ceasefire. Justice Minister, Ronald Lamola, was speaking at a conference in Jordan and evealed that South Africa has pledged R50 million for humanitarian aid in Gaza.
Various speakers, including retired judge Albie Sachs, and Gift of the Givers (GOTG) founder, Dr Imtiaz Sooliman, spoke to the media in Cape Town. Sachs said Israel and Palestine should work together to find a “lasting solution for peace” and the two nations should share the lands and resources, SABC News reported.
He said the nations could eventually find common ground and negotiate a long-term deal, similar to how South Africa ended apartheid.
@MYANC must go into partnership with parties that share the same Pro-Palestinian ideals relating to the war in Gaza.
This is according to @GiftoftheGivers founder Dr. Imtiaz Sooliman.

Sooliman said the African National Congress (ANC) should continue the fight for liberation once the country enters a Government of National Unity (GNU) and was firmly against forming coalitions with parties not aligned with the Palestinian cause, The Citizen reported.
“This one country that couldn’t keep the lights on, can’t deliver water, has all kinds of problems has stood up from the whole world in terms of human rights and humanitarian justice.” he said.
“So, a direct call to the ANC, be very careful about what coalitions, what partnerships you make because we cannot stop this process. There’s been no government, no institution more brave than what South Africa has done,” he added.
He also appealed to President Cyril Ramaphosa to re-appoint Naledi Pandor as one his two choices from outside of the elected parliament to continue in her role as International Relations Minister, Daily Maverick reported.
“The ANC government must be very careful about what partnerships and what coalitions they make in this country for a new government because I don’t want Naledi Pandor to be removed,” he said.
