Johannesburg — Gory details regarding the murder of two young boys in Soweto surfaced at the Protea Magistrates Court when the accused grandmother of one of the boys, Nqobile Ndlovu, made her appearance on Friday.
Earlier in the week, police announced that they had made a breakthrough in the case of the murders of Tshiamo Rabanye (6) and Mduduzi Nqobizitha Zulu (5), arresting a 50-year-old woman, Ndlovu, and her 39-year-old partner, Mthunzi Mzwakhe Zulu.
Following a forensic investigation at the boys’ homes, police took the two suspects in for questioning after which they were charged with murder.
According to The Citizen, the state alleged both the woman and her partner had acted in common purpose, that the murder and mutilation of the boys’ bodies were premeditated. The couple was charged with two counts of murder, kidnapping, perjury, and defeating the ends of justice.

Meanwhile, EWN reported that the grandmother’s best friend gave an account of what happened leading up to the arrest.
She said that bloody sheets stuffed into a plastic bag were found in Ndlovu’s home prior to her arrest.
It was alleged that the discovery came after a community member found a packet that contained burnt clothes with blood stains on the roof of one of their neighbour’s shacks.
“The sheets they found inside the house. The burnt clothes they were on top of the roof of a shack on the other street, I can say opposite the house,” Ndlovu’s best friend was quoted as saying.
The boys were laid to rest at the Olifantsvlei Cemetery on Friday.
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi said he was disheartened and did not have any answers for the family and community, Times Live reported.
“We come to you limping and limping every day. On behalf of the government, we fail to explain the pain you are going through. We come to you with no explanations.

“If you hate children, what do you love? Even through wars and disasters, usually people would rather die than let their children die. It makes things difficult for us. Are we truly human beings?
“We must resist exposing our children to death and funerals,” the report quoted Lesufi as saying.
