Cape Town – Despite being stabbed and injured, a Limpopo police detective pursued the suspect who had attacked him in Polokwane CBD on Thursday night, August 1, 2024.
The suspect allegedly approached the officer, who was standing next to his vehicle, stabbed him, and stole the car keys before fleeing the scene, police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba said.

“The community promptly responded after noticing the commotion and assisted the victim. The suspect was apprehended, and the injured police officer was transported to the hospital,” Mashaba said.
The wounded detective was transported to the hospital and is currently receiving medical attention.
Police are investigating the incident as a case of theft from a motor vehicle and attempted murder.
The Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, condemned the attack, saying that such acts of violence against police officers will not be tolerated.
He praised the community for their prompt assistance.
Hadebe said that the suspect will face the full extent of the law.
The suspect, a 34-year-old male, is scheduled to appear in Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Monday, August 5, 2024.
