Cape Town – Well-known Bosasa and Gupta company liquidator Cloete Murray has reportedly died after succumbing to injuries in a shooting near Midrand.
Reports said that Murray died in hospital on Sunday morning after he was shot by unknown gunmen on the N1 highway in Midrand, Johannesburg on Saturday.
“Twenty-eight-year-old Thomas died on the scene, while his father, Cloete, was rushed to the hospital for urgent medical care,” Eye Witness News reported.
Police confirmed that they are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder following the shooting incident.

“The two men, reportedly a father and son, were travelling together when their vehicle was shot at by unknown suspects. The son was fatally shot, while the father sustained injuries and was taken to hospital,” News24 quoted the police as saying.
According to Times Live, Murray was the court-appointed liquidator for state contractor Bosasa whose executives were implicated in state capture allegations before chief justice Raymond Zondo.
He was involved in several high-profile insolvency cases including corruption within Eskom and other tentacles of state capture, the report said.
