Cape Town – The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has reportedly added tax evasion charges of over R28 million against ex-member of parliament and African National Congress (ANC) member Vincent Smith.
Smith returned to the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Tuesday where he faces charges of fraud and corruption, IOL reported.
The former MP stands accused in his personal capacity as well as representative capacity for his company Euroblitz 48 (Pty) Ltd.

“The tax fraud charges stem from Smith and Euroblitz failure to disclose taxable income from 9 March 2009 to 11 July 2018, totaling R28 million… He is charged of corruption for the gratifications he received from BOSASA in the form of security upgrades to his Gauteng home,” the NPA said in a statement.

The case against the former MP has been postponed until January 21, 2022.
