Cape Town — A 16-year-old boy, who went missing on Thursday afternoon, was found dead when his body was discovered at the bottom of a cliff in Hlathikhulu on the north coast of KZN.
According to the IPSS Medical Rescue Team, they received reports of a 16 year old boy who had gone missing in the Hlathikhulu area. Reports indicated that the boy has been missing since Thursday, and despite intensive searches from the local community, his body could not be located.
SAPS K9 Search and Rescue conducted a search of the area yesterday, but unfortunately were unable to locate the teen.
“Today, at first light, IPSS Search and Rescue arrived on scene and worked alongside the local community, Nduna Mbanjwa and K9 Saints to search for the teen. Searches were conducted along the top and bottom of cliffs in the area where he was last seen, utilizing a drone and two K9’s.” IPSS Medical Search and Rescue spokesperson Samantha Meyrick said.
The boy’s body was found near the bottom of one of the cliffs. Sadly, he was declared deceased. His body was carried out of the thick bush with the help of members of the community and handed over to local SAPS where the cause of death will be subject to investigation.
“IPSS Search and Rescue would like to extend their thanks to the local community, led by Nduna Mbanjwa, K9 Saints and Bhamshela and Nsuze SAPS for their assistance in bringing closure to the family.” Meyrick added.
