Cape Town – The body of a man who is thought to have drowned and partly eaten by a shark was found in Lady Ellen Crescent in La Lucia, Durban on Friday.
“Reports indicate that while walking on the beach, a man came across the decomposing body of an adult male face down between washed up flotsam,” Arrive Alive said in a statement.
The alarm was raised at 16:30 on Friday when a drowning was reported.

When medics examined the body, parts of the man’s right upper arm and right chest area were missing, with multiple shark bite marks clearly visible.
“Although authorities will determine the exact cause of death, it is believed the deceased had been predated on following the drowning.
“The body was handed over to the Durban North SAPS for further investigation,” said the statement.
