Cape Town – Mpumalanga police have reportedly arrested three suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of a 6-year-old girl, Bontle Mashiyane, who had been missing for more than three weeks.
According to Times Live, Mashiyane was reported missing on April 30, 2022. On the day, she was playing with other children near her home.
Through police investigations, three suspects who confessed to Mashiyane’s murder were reportedly arrested on Friday whilst two more suspects were taken for questioning.
Among the arrested suspects, two were Mashiyane’s neighbours.
SABC reported that the three suspects pointed out where they had hidden Mashiyane’s lifeless body, which was discovered mutilated – without eyes, ears and tongue – near her home on Saturday.
According to the report, the 6-year-old was also raped by a 40-year-old man before being murdered.
Mashiyane’s neighbours also confessed to killing four other children from the same street.
“This is not the first murder that they committed on this street. They have confessed to four children other that they have killed, the very same street this one is the fifth children two of them are for her sisters, now you ask yourself what kind of a woman is this one, said Manamela as quoted by the report.
The three suspects were expected to appear at the Kabokweni Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of murder, kidnapping, and rape.
