Cape Town — During the latest court proceedings in the case of the death of former underworld kingpin, Mark Lifman, a car guard revealed the last words screamed by Lifman before his death.
Lifman was gunned down outside Garden Route Mall in George on 3 November and two men – Gert Bezuidenhout and Johannes Hendrik Jacobs – were arrested as the murder accused.
According to George Herald, the bail application for the two men was denied in the George Magistrate’s Court this afternoon, Friday 17 January.
In his judgement Magistrate André Aucamp said their release on bail will not be in the interest of justice, nor could he find any exceptional circumstances to justify bail.
The case has been postponed until 20 February for further investigation as the state is still waiting for cell phone analyses and ballistic reports.

The two made another court appearance on Thursday when Lifman’s close friends, Jerome “Donkie” Booysen and Andre Naude were in the public gallery as the State and defence teams read their affidavits, IOL reported.
In a statement, investigating Lieutenant-Colonel Dirk Van Reenen revealed that Lifman was in George at the time of his death as he was travelling with friends. Lifman and his buddies were set to play golf on the morning of his death, when he informed them he was taking the blue Ford Raptor to the mall.
Camera footage showed Lifman entering a Studio 88 shop and left the store with two shopping bags. Van Reene said Lifmanw as not followed inside but, just minutes after he parked, a while VW Polo arrived and waited for him.
The car guard working at the mall that day said he spotted a white male walking across the parking lot and had left the passenger door open. The guard said Lifman screamed “NO!” before gunshots rang out.
