Cape Town β South African car sales company, Auto Pedigree, has come under intense scrutiny after it was revealed that it allegedly offered 20% discounts to AfriForum members.
Members of AfriForum, an Afrikaner civil society group, receive a discount on all vehicle services and deals through a mutual agreement between the two parties.
“AfirForum members qualify for 20% discount on all vehicle services, fitments and repairs through automotive diagnostic solutions at Auto Pedigree service centres,” it read on AfriForum’s website.

According to IOL, Auto Pedigree cleared the air over the discount with AfriForum. Danie Snymna, Auto Pedigree’s legal advisor, said the 20% discount is offered to all clients at the point of sale, if it was requested.
Snyman said the discount was also offered to the South African Police Services (SAPS), teahcer unions and other corporate entities. Auto Pedigree said that AfriForum simply knew about the discount and informed its members of this option on its official website.
Snyman did not say whether AfriForum was requested to remove the statement from its website.
“We reiterate that the Auto Pedigree Group, including Auto Pedigree Service Centres, does not align itself with any specific racial or political group, including but not limited to AfriForum, and is here to serve South Africa and all its residents as a law-abiding and responsible corporate citizen,” Snyman said.
He said the matter was now officially closed.
