Cape Town – At least 50 foreign nationals escaped from being held hostage in a house in Lombardy East, Johannesburg, on Wednesday.
The escapees’ location remains unknown, but Hawks spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale said that the incident could be connected to human trafficking, The Citizen reported.
“We are still gathering information. Officials are on the way to the scene and will update,” the report quoted her as saying.

According to eNCA, it is believed that foreign nationals are of Ethiopian or Somalian origin.
“Some of them had been nacked at that point,” sources said, adding that they heard screams and “saw this group of men jumping over the fence and making a run on the streets”.
