Cape Town – The Hawks arrested a woman in George, Western Cape, on Saturday following information about the alleged trafficking of three young girls from West Africa to South Africa in a shipping container.
The girls, believed to have fake passports, were reportedly advertised on an escort website and found in a residential complex in George, a police report said.
A serious organised crime investigation team rescued four females, aged 21 to 47, suspected of being trafficked.
The victims were taken for medical assessment and placed in a safe location.
The woman, the alleged caretaker of the premises, faces human trafficking charges and is set to appear in court on Monday.
